Bamboo Installation, Kolkata
Location: Kolkata, West Bengal
Area: 180 sq.m.
Status: Completed in December, 2014
Impressed with our Temporary Bamboo Pavilion in Bansberia, the Local Government wanted a similar public installation for the beautification of the main arterial road of a planned township in the city. Encompassing all four corners of a prominent junction, this piece of public art portrays dynamism and implied progress through its waveform design and a bold use of colour. A total length of 2.8 km of bamboo was used over 1512 poles of various lengths and hues. The retro-reflective vinyl stickers prove more than successful in enlivening the area as the headlights of passing vehicles illuminate the entire installation.
